Krasnodar, 22 September. Krasnodar krai is reportedly getting prepared to fight possible fires and other emergency situations.
In particular, over 3.5 billion roubles will be spent during the following four years to build and maintain fire stations. Part of the money will come from the national project “Ecology.” By 2024, ten new fire stations are to be built in the region. These plans were announced at a meeting devoted to fire safety, held in Krasnodar last week with the participation of Minister of Emergency Situations Yevgeni Zinichev and Governor Veniamin Kondratiev.
This year, due to the prolonged drought and heat, the number of fires in the region significantly grew. One of the biggest fires happened several weeks ago in Utrish Reserve, where the fire destroyed about 130 hectares of endemic forests. Another big fire took place in Krasnodar – the roof of a highrise at Rossiyskaya street burnt away along the entire perimeter; the fire also affected the upper storeys of the building.
