Krasnodar, 10 September. The resorts of Krasnodar krai received more than 6.2 million holidaymakers last summer, Governor Veniamin Kondratiev announced speaking with journalists last week.
In 2019, the figure was about 16 million tourists.
“Last summer, the Krasnodar resorts managed to receive more than 6.2 million tourists. Since the beginning of the year, 7.6 million holidaymakers came to the region. Of course, it is much less than in the previous year, but the reason is easy to explain. Due to the pandemic and restrictions, our resorts were deprived of the warmest months in the spring, while in the summer the [tourist] industry was set going bit by bit,” Mr. Kondratiev said. He noted that the peak of the tourist activity was in August, when nearly all hotels were full. Despite the regular reports about growing coronavirus morbidity rate, the region reportedly managed to avoid mass outbreaks of the disease.
As for the low season, two thirds of the rooms have been booked in hotels for September, which is more than last year.
