Krasnodar, 26 August. Last week, the regional Minister of Sports Aleksei Chernov was quoted as saying that 76 million roubles will be allocated to adapt the heritage of the 2018 Mundial in Gelendzhik. The money will be spent to reconstruct the Spartak Stadium which was a training ground for the teams that participated in the World Cup.
“Over a hundred training grounds had been built nationwide for the Mundial. It was very important to use them subsequently in children’s and youth sports,” Mr. Chernov noted. “In our region, all training grounds that had been built for money from the budget were handed over to children’s sport schools – in Sochi, Gelendzhik and Anapa. The training process of so many kids exerts additional load on the football pitches and the infrastructure, which is why the Russian Government issued a separate program of adaptation of these mini-stadiums. In Gelendzhik, the works are being performed according to schedule. All works are to be completed by the end of this year.”
The works to be done include football pitch stitching, replacement of the race-course covering, and supply of workout equipment.
